THE RETREAT

General Overview
The Retreat is an exclusive, gated residential community on the Gulf of Mexico in Blue Mountain Beach, Florida. Situated on the south side of Scenic Highway 30A, The Retreat is approximately 20 miles east of Destin and 32 miles west of Panama City Beach in Northwest Florida. The Retreat offers a private, low-density environment with only 90 home sites on 90 acres, much of which is protected in nature preserve areas.
Architecture
The Retreat is revered as one of the most premier communities on 30A and showcases many of the finest architectural master works on Northwest Florida’s Emerald Coast. Homes in The Retreat adhere to architectural guidelines that specify a West Indies-inspired style and color palette. An approved list of architects and builders protects the sanctity and reputation of The Retreat as one of the finest communities along the beaches of South Walton.
Amenities
The amenities of The Retreat are enjoyed exclusively by owners and their guests. They include a Gulf-front Beach Club, an uninterrupted stretch of private beach, a canoe launch and picnic pavillion on Draper Lake, as well as a children’s play fort.
The Beach Club at The Retreat stands prominently at the end of Retreat Drive. It features a half-moon, infinity edge pool with fountain, hot tub, beach access, private restroom facilities, shaded dining areas and grills. Owners in The Retreat may reserve the Beach Club for private functions. The Beach Club also provides private storage lockers for all owners to stow beach and other outdoor gear.
The Retreat occupies approximately 3,000 feet of beach front. Of that beach front, 2,000 feet are divided among 24 Gulf-front home sites, the Beach Club and three beach access points. The remaining 1,000 feet are permanently protected from development and can be enjoyed by all owners and their guests.
The Retreat shares the shoreline of Draper Lake, one of 11 coastal dune lakes along the beaches of South Walton, and one of 15 found along the Gulf of Mexico in Northwest Florida. These rare bodies of water are found only in Northwest Florida and remote portions of Africa and Australia. Fifteen of the 22 lake-front home sites in The Retreat overlook the stretch of protected beach front. The resulting view combines lake, dunes and the area’s signature, emerald green water. Seven of the lake-front home sites allow docks to be built on Draper Lake. An additional beach access point over a narrow fingerling of Draper Lake meanders through the protected dunes to the beach.
Real Estate
The Retreat consists of single family homes and home sites.
